Romeo Bernardo
Romeo L. Bernardo is president of Lazaro Bernardo Tiu and Associates, a boutique financial advisory firm in Manila. He was undersecretary of finance and executive director of the Asian Development Bank. He also was an advisor to the World Bank and the IMF, and deputy chief of the Philippine delegation to the GATT (WTO). He was a member of the finance faculty at the University of the Philippines, chairman of the ALFM Peso/Dollar and Euro Fund (the country’s largest mutual fund family) and chairman of the Philippine Stock Index Fund. Today he serves on the board of several leading Philippine corporations in banking, insurance, food manufacturing, telecommunications and electronics industries. He graduated magna cum laude in business and economics from the University of the Philippines, and received a master’s degree from Williams College.

Marie-Christine Tang
Marie-Christine Tang has worked since 1999 with Lazaro Bernardo Tiu and Associates. She is a CFA charterholder, with 15 years of experience in economics and finance. Previously Ms. Tang worked at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies and the National Economic and Development Authority. She has co-authored several papers about public finance and macroeconomics. Ms. Tang graduated cum laude in economics from the University of Santo Tomas, and received her M.A. in economics from the University of the Philippines, where she also pursued doctoral studies.

Margarita Gonzales
Margarita Gonzales in conjunction with Romeo L. Bernardo serves as GlobalSource economist in the Philippines. She received her PhD in economics from the University of the Philippines writing on regional monetary integration, particularly in Asia.

Ms. Gonzales has written papers in the areas of monetary and financial economics, macroeconomics and development, some of which have been published internationally. She previously served as consultant for various multilaterals and as teaching associate at the UP School of Economics.

A multi-awarded economic and financial journalist, Ms. Gonzales was a contributor to the business section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the country’s biggest daily, for close to seven years. She obtained her BS in Psychology from the University of the Philippines (magna cum laude) and completed coursework towards a Master’s degree in social and political psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University.
