Iraj Abedian
Iraj Abedian is co-founder of Pan-African Capital Holdings, a financial and economic advisory firm in Johannesburg.
He is a former member of President Thabo Mbeki’s panel of economic advisors, and a former chief economist of Standard Bank Group.
Dr. Abedian has been involved in macroeconomic policymaking since 1994, and is a respected adviser to several public and private sector organizations, including the Development Bank of Southern Africa, where he serves as a board member of the Development Fund. He is also a member of Board of Directors of Transnet Ltd, and of MunichRe of Africa.
Dr. Abedian serves as an honorary professor of economics at University of Pretoria. He received a master’s in economics from the University of Cape Town, and his Ph.D. from Simon Fraser University in Canada.
