Mauricio González
Mauricio González is a partner and co-founder of the Mexico City consultancy Grupo de Economistas y Asociados. He was its general director from 1995 to 2003, specializing in analyzing public utilities. He was associate director of technical assistance and training at the North American Development Bank, from 2003 to 2006; finance Coordinator of Banco Mexicano Somex from 1989 to 1990. Previously he held several positions in the Finance Ministry. Mr. González served on the boards of Banca Confía, the Common Fund of Nacional Financiera, Afore Santander, Grupo Corvi, Seguros Tepeyac, Bancomext Risk Management Committee, the IXE Investment Committee, Banca Promex and Banca Confía. He taught economics and finance at several universities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.

Ernesto Cervera Gomez
Ernesto Cervera Gomez is co-founder and partner of Grupo de Economistas y Asociados. Earlier, he was the Finance Ministry’s general director of finance and planning, and an economic advisor to the foreign minister. He specializes in monetary policy, labor economics, industrial organization, privatization and foreign trade. From 1976 to 1982, he served on the economic advisory team to the president of Mexico. In the private sector, Mr. Cervera worked for the Economic Analysis Corporation in Los Angeles, focusing on industrial organization. Mr. Cervera holds a B.A. in economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, and a master’s in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles, where he is a Ph.D. candidate.

Veronica Ortiz
Attorney Veronica Ortiz joined Grupo de Economistas y Asociados in 2007, as a political consultant and public affairs specialist. She began her law career at Baker & McKenzie in 1989, then entered public service as the technical director for the legal council in the office of the presidency. She later served as director for deregulation at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (1994) and director for legislative affairs at the Mexican Banking Commission (1995-1999). In 2001, she began consulting on legislative projects, with an emphasis on strategic and political analysis.
