13 soldiers killed in Azerbaijan-Armenian fighting

On November 19 Yerevan announced 6 fatalities had been sustained in skirmishes on the ceasefire line, and 13 more taken prisoner. The Azerbaijanis say 7 of their men were killed. Most of the fighting took place on November 16. This is the worst fighting since the 2020 war. Both sides have now agreed to a truce. Armenia says it is asking Russia to use its good offices to secure the release of those who are held as Prisoners of War in Azerbaijan. The Armenians are also asking Moscow to help determine the exact location of the ceasefire line. This was done in 2020 but since then Azerbaijan and Armenia have disagreed about the line.There are 2,000 Russian soldiers deployed in between Azerbaijan and Armenia to prevent fighting. The presence of these peacekeepers is clearly not entirely effectual. The Russians are to be there until 2025. What happens after that is undecided. The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to meet in Brussels on December 15, 2021.
