The Central Electoral Board proclaimed Luis Abinader and Raquel Peña as elected president and vice president. Abinader and his ballot partner obtained 52.5% of the votes, Gonzalo Castillo and Margarita Cedeño (current VP) of the PLD and allies obtained 37.5% and former President Leonel Fernández and his ballot partner (FP and allies) obtained 8.9% of the votes. The transition is already underway as the outgoing and incoming government transition teams have been formed and elected President and President Medina held the first transition meeting. The Central Electoral Board also confirmed that the PRM obtained an absolute majority in the Senate. Individually, it won 18 of the 32 seats and considering the alliance, won 19 seats. The FP and its allies obtained seven seats and the PLD gained only six seats. However, the alliance between the PRM and other parties may give them an edge and cling right over a half-plus-one of the seats.
