Another hack on the US suspected to be Russian backed

On May 28 a huge hack occurred in the USA. Government agencies, think tanks, consultants and other bodies were attacked. The group who committed the attack is called Nobelium. The organizations attacked are foreign policy ones. It seems to have been an intelligence gathering exercise.The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency announced the hack on May 28. Organizations are urged to take precautions.Phishing emails delivered malware. 3 000 email account at 150 organizations were targeted. People will trust emails less and less. The hackers got into the email servers of Constant Contact and created false emails in the guide of USAID. They then sent out disinformation. They spread the claim that the 2020 election was won by Trump.The hack has the hallmarks of previous Russian hacks. US sanctions imposed in response to the SolarWinds hack have not been a deterrent.Putin is due to meet Biden in June 2021. There is some chance that Biden will now cancel that. However, Russia will deny all involvement. An alibi will be that Russia would never do this when it would jeopardize an upcoming summit.
