Armenia given more time to withdraw

On November 15 Azerbaijan agreed to give Armenia longer to pull out of the territory that is being handed back to Azerbaijan. Kalbacar is a district that is being returned to Azerbaijan. Armenians there are mostly considered illegal immigrants by Azerbaijan. Russia intervened to request this extension. The pullout was supposed to be finished on November 15. There are other districts where the withdrawal date as late as December 1.Many people set their houses ablaze before leaving. The Armenians do not want the Azerbaijanis to have their houses.There are ancient churches and monasteries in the land that Azerbaijan is regaining. Armenia is worried lest these buildings be destroyed. In the 1990s war Azerbaijan destroyed almost every Christian site that it seized.On November 17 Armenia's foreign minister was fired. The prime minister is under heavy pressure to resign.
