Belarus and Russia economically integrating

On September 9 the president of the two countries agreed on 28 policies aimed at binding the two countries closer together. Political unification is not on the agenda. Russia has long desired this but Belarus does not. In the long run the countries will have the same macro economic policy, said Putin. He then lavished praise on Belarus as a stalwart ally that cherished Russian ideals. In 1999 the nations agreed to forge a union state with one legislature, one currency and the same state emblems. This still has not happened. Belarus is reliant on Russia for low cost loans and cost price energy. Russia is tired of bankrolling Belarus. Minsk has needed all the more support for the last 13 months consequent on Western sanctions.Lukashenka affirmed that Belarus and Russia are ''stronger together''. But those who advocate for full union have been imprisoned in Belarus.The Zapad 2021 joint war games between Belarus and Russia will take place in September 2021. The word 'Zapad' means 'West' because that is where Belarus and Russia see the threat coming from.Russia recently donated military aircraft to Belarus. These will be stationed on an airbase near the EU.
