On June 22 Belarus announced it would cooperate with inspections by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Belarus has not engaged with OSCE since 2020. Minsk stopped cooperating during the pandemic. The OSCE will not be able to verify Belarus' arms stocks. These are consonant with Minsk's obligations under the Vienna Document. The aim of that is to build trust so that countries do not believe another country is starting a military build up to prepare an invasion. Belarus noted that Poland is not cooperating with the OSCE. Minsk has also said it is suspicious that EU officials visited Ukraine on June 17. Belarus has deployed more troops on its border with Ukraine in June 2022. Some have speculated that Belarus might invade Ukraine to help Russia. Lukashenka remains as oppressive as ever. People are regularly jailed for up to 3.5 years for criticizing him.
