Biden recognises the Armenian Genocide

On April 24 the US President stated that the mass slaying of Armenians in the First World War was genocide. The killing was committed by the Ottoman Empire, which is the predecessor of Turkey.Armenia is a former Soviet country and is more in Russia's orbit than any other former Soviet republic. Yerevan hailed Biden's decision. However, there is little chance of Armenia moving closer to the US.Turkey has reacted angrily. It has said that it shall push back against the American announcement. Biden's words will harm US relations with Turkey, which is a NATO country.
