The Ukraine Crisis looms as a not-so-small threat to economic stability, not to mention the political implications. Having covered the politics of it in our previous reports, we take a brief look at the potential economic fallout.

Erdogan’s UAE’s visit was hailed as a major political and economic breakthrough, a claim we deem “fantastic”. While better relations with wealthy Arab nations is certainly a positive, no one is going to sink large sums of money into Turkey, unless Erdogan changes his extremely discretionary governance style.

AKP-MHP are stuck at home, with no item on their New Year Agenda making any progress. The reigning alliance has also lost its January gains in recent polls. The high cost-of-living is stoking small but very widespread demonstrations across the nation, but there is no evidence that it could soon gel into something bigger.
