Comedian Zelenskiy to run for presidency

On the New Year night comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced his decision to run for presidency in real. He spoke on TV channel 1+1 which belongs to oligarch Igor Kolomoyskiy at the time when President Petro Poroshenko was making his traditional New Year speech for Ukrainians. This move was arranged as a symbolic disgrace to current President since TV channel 1+1 has multimillion audience and Ukrainians expected to see their president on TV but instead they were caught by surprise listening to comedian Zelenskiy. According to the most recent (and reputable) surveys Volodymyr Zelenskiy shares the second place with incumbent President Petro Poroshenko and leader of alternative forces Anatoliy Hrytsenko. Despite his popularity political experts claim that Volodymyr Zelenskiy is a technical candidate, created by Igor Kolomoyskiy, who targets to cut out Petro Poroshenko from the second round of president race. Kolomoyskiy allegedly supports Yulia Tymoshenko trying to make a revenge on Poroshenko for nationalization of Privatbank that incumbent President authorizedSince Zelenskiy has already made a move, we should be ready to hear soon from rock-singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk who was still undecided whether to run for president post or not. Svyatoslav Vakarchuk is seen as a pro-reformist player but he lost many supporters recently due to his never-ending hesitations. Should it happen that Vakarchuk announces about his presidential ambitions, he will gain support very fast, I believe. Potential results of president elections 2019 are still unpredictable.
