The price hike also increases pressure for a bill that has already been passed in the Senate and is currently in the House on a transportation subsidy for the elderly. The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, will meet with state finance secretaries on Thursday. The states want to show that they are complying with the new law approved by the National Congress, which unifies the rates of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on diesel. The House may begin the analysis of six provisional measures, including MP No. 1095/21, which aims to end tax incentives for the chemical and petrochemicals industry under the Special Tax Regime for the Chemical Industry (Reiq).
