Does Ukraine Stop EU Association Process?

 A strange document has been released by the Cabinet today. The prime-minister Mykola Azarov ordered the state bodies to stop preparation activities to EU Association agreement.  The regulation also suggested creation of three-side working group with representatives of EU and Russia for solving trade and economic problems [of Ukraine].  Also the document ordered to resume active dialogue with Russia and other members of Customs Union.Does it mean that the EU Association game is over and we know the answer to the results of Vilnius Summit?  We have doubts on this.  In our last report we tried to describe some basics of moral values and methods of work of current ruling elite in Ukraine.  In light of this prism we believe that Yanukovitch team is squeezing out more concessions from EU in this way and since stakes are high for his family he has started a really tough endgame.The main problem for Viktor Yanukovitch is that he is in classical zugzwang position with every decision he takes making him worse-off.  Releasing Tymoshenko threatens his future and future of his family, implementing IMF recommendation kills any chance for victory in president elections 2015, joining Customs Union makes him a puppet in hands of Vladimir Putin and he can’t accept this option as well.   In this situation, Viktor Yanukovitch is trying to play very risky game by increasing tension and making Russia and EU competing between each other for Ukraine in hope to get the highest price. All in all, the discussion of last days resembles marketing trick of some entrepreneur trying to create agiotage at the market.
