Dozens of Russian drones attack Kyiv

On the night of November 24 Russia launched its largest ever air attack on Kyiv. Ukraine said that it shot down 71 drones, which was almost all of them. They were said to be Shahed drones, which are Iranian designed. However, it is thought that Russia now has its own factory to make Shaheds. Ukraine said 5 people were wounded by the attack but none were killed. No important buildings seem to have been struck. There were some small fires in the 6-hour-long alert.  The attack came on the day that Ukraine commemorates the Holodomor—the 1930s famine that killed millions of people. There were no air attacks on Kyiv in late September, all of October or the first half of November 2023. It seems that Russia was saving up its drones for a huge-scale attack that would overwhelm Ukrainian air defense. However, this seems not to have been very successful.
