​First ever woman elected President of Georgia

Salome Zurabishvili was elected President of Georgia. She will be inaugurated on December 16. She was born in France to Georgian emigres. She is a French citizen and served as the ambassador of France to Georgia. Some accused her of being more French than Georgian and trying to make her country a puppet of the West. She and her opponent both accused each other of trying to make Georgia a vassal of Russia. Yet these accusations do not make much sense.Ms Zurabishvili does not have a political party. However, her campaign was backed by the Georgian Dream party. Her opponent was endorsed by former president Mikheil Saakashvili. Saakashvili is Moscow's bete noir.Another woman served as president before but in an acting and not substantive capacity.
