Former President Jacob Zuma finally honors the State Capture Commission’s request to face the nation

​In the State of Capture 2016 report by the ex-Public Protector, Thuli Madonzela, the former President, Jacob Zuma, was found to have been the key role player in state capture. The report was “an investigation into complaints of alleged improper and unethical conduct by the president and other state functionaries relating to alleged improper relationships and involvement of the Gupta family in the removal and appointment of ministers and directors of State Owned Entities (SOEs) resulting in improper and possibly corrupt award of state contracts and benefits to the Gupta family’s businesses”. Throughout his tenure as the head of state (2009 – 2018), and actually even before his presidency, Zuma has been accused of significant impropriety while holding public office ‒ allegations of rape, racketeering and corruption.
