On April 29 Borjomi said it would not be producing water for the foreseeable future. It is one of the most popular brands in the former USSR. Borjomi said its problems are due to the Ukraine War. Russia has less money to spend on products and there are difficulties with paying due to sanctions.Borjomi is mostly owned by Alfa Group which is a Russian company. Alfa is under sanctions.Russia and Ukraine are major markets for Russian comestibles and beverages. A prominent Georgian opposition politician and banker plans to buy Alfa's shares in Borjomi and to sell them on the Georgian Stock Exchange.
