​Government adopts austerity plan in public spending.

Last Saturday President Luis Abinader issued Decree 396-21, which provides for the adoption of a set of administrative measures in order to rationalize public spending. The measures adopted impose restrictions on the purchase of vehicles and remodeling of buildings. Likewise, parties, donations and gifts to third parties, use of official vehicles, trips abroad and printing of materials are limited. The decree also mandates the reassignment of military personnel to priority tasks, as well as 50% of police personnel must be used in the implementation of the Comprehensive National Strategy for Citizen Security.
