Russia’s government control over the Internet is constantly increasing as the authorities try to prevent opposition and foreign actors from using it for the purpose of changing the regime. Due to constant increase of control and government Internet blocking, circumvention tools are also becoming more and more popular. As a result, the government now tries to find a way to ban all instruments of surpassing the blocking.

Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is one of the country’s most popular and most influential politicians as the military is active in two conflicts and the Minister gets a lot of Presidential and media attention. However, some recent media developments caused irritation and disappointment with the Minister in the Presidential Administration.

Large-scale June protests in almost two hundred Russian cities and towns were met with increased oppression from the government. Almost two thousand people all over the country were detained and arrested while Alexei Navalny was convicted to a month in prison.
Russians continue seeing consumption of any narcotic drugs as a dangerous medical and social issue. In the past years, the fear of drug consumption even increased, while Russians do not see any difference between soft and hard drugs.
