Yesterday, the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), met with the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha (PT), to discuss the payroll tax issue. He did not say what the government's decision would be but said he would speak with President Lula to negotiate a solution. In the race for mayor of São Paulo, the state governor, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), announced support for the re-election of the current mayor, Ricardo Nunes (MDB). On the other side of this race is Deputy Guilherme Boulos, who will have Marta Suplicy as his vice mayor candidate. Yesterday, the São Paulo PT directory approved her return to the party to run in the election.
