Yesterday, May 15, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad addressed reports of a possible fiscal adjustment package. In conversations with journalists, he stated that the ministry is actually working on targeted measures to help meet the 2025 fiscal target. The PT leader in the Senate, Senator Rogério Carvalho, stated that the party is expected to sign the request to create a Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to investigate the INSS fraud. Until now, the initiative had only the support of the opposition. The Lower House’s special committee to analyze the income tax reform bill has its first public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, May 20. Another special committee that will move forward is the committee to review the constitutional amendment on municipal civil liens.
