Holland kicks out 2 Russian diplomats as spies

On December 10 the Dutch said the two Russian had been declared personae non gratae for spying on the hi tech industries. The two expellees are said to be members of the SVR (External Intelligence Service). They were diplomats in the Hague.AIVD (Dutch intelligence) said the SVR had developed a network of informants in tech companies. The SVR were especially eager to find out about AI, semiconductors and nanotechnology. Only last week Putin said Russia needs to catch up on nanotech! The AIVD said the SVR wanted access to tech with both military and civilian applications. AIVD accused the two Russian diplomats of bribing people to divulge secrets. In 2018 the Dutch expelled four Russian diplomats after accusing them of espionage. It is almost inevitable that Russia will retaliate by expelling two Dutch diplomats. The Netherlands and Russia have a relatively high volume of trade considering how small the former country is.
