Executive Summary Last week’s report on the National Survey of Household Income and Spending for 2014, which tracks general totals as well as the origin and distribution of such income and spending, showed that current monetary incomes fell 3.1% including transfers, and 0.9% without transfers. Inequality gauged by the Gini coefficient was essentially constant, practically unchanged from readings of the three previous readings (2008, 2010 and 2012) both with and without transfers (0.45 and 0.50 percentage points, respectively).
