India to make 100 million doses of Russian coronavirus vaccine

On November 27 Russia announced that the Sputnik V vaccine will be made by Hetero. The Indian drug maker will manufacture 100 million doses. Sputnik V will be produced in Brazil, China and South Korea.The Russian Direct Investment Fund is part funding this. Production will commence early in 2021. Sputnik V is over 90% effective according to its developers. It will cost USD 10 per dose which is less than its rivals.Sputnik V was licensed in Russia in August 2020 before wide scale trials. It is presently in final trials. 40 000 volunteers are involved in a blind test of two human adenovirus vectors.Third phrase trials of Sputnik V are ongoing in Belarus, the UAE and other lands.
