Iranian President visits Tajikistan

On November 13 the visit took place. The two countries have decided to allow visa-free travel between them. They also inked agreements on trade and transport. President Raisi also visited Tajikistan in 2022. Tajikistan is one of the few countries that welcomes the Iranian president. Iran is very glad of any friends it can get. Tajikistan and Iran both have very cordial relations with Russia. The main difference between them is Tajikistan is strictly secular and Iran is a theocracy. Religiosity is viewed with suspicion in Tajikistan. Tajiks who have studied in Iran come in for special scrutiny.  Relations between the two Persian speaking countries were much cooler a few years ago. The Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan is banned in Tajikistan. The IRPT was welcomed in Iran in 2015.
