It’s getting quite ugly here

Recent polls herald significant drops in the approval ratings of the President Erdogan and his AKP-MHP alliance. Erdogan and his ally Bahceli seem unable to adopt new economic policies to reverse the decline. With the opposition organizing better each day and uniting around common causes, it now looks nearly impossible for Erdogan to turn the tide in the polls.

Realizing this bitter truth, Erdogan may have threatened to use force against the opposition. Despite two opposition leaders expressing concerns about his plans, use of force or political assassinations to stop the opposition is not the base-case scenario. Yet, external actors may use the political turmoil as an opportunity to saw the seeds of further distrust, through acts of sabotage.
