Supreme Federal Court Justice Luís Roberto Barroso announced on Thursday, October 9, that he will step down from the Court. Currently, five main contenders are being considered to replace him. In an interview, President Lula said he will meet next week with ministers and congressional leaders to discuss alternatives to Provisional Measure 1,303/25, mentioning, for instance, possible taxation of fintechs. Congress is also scheduled to hold a joint session to review presidential vetoes, aiming to analyze all the items President Lula (PT) struck down in the new Environmental Licensing Law (Law 15,190/25).
