As expected, Supreme Federal Court (STF) Chief Justice Edson Fachin postponed consideration of the case that would assess Justice André Mendonça’s conduct as rapporteur in the Master and INSS cases. Against the backdrop of continued deterioration in the president’s approval ratings, the government announced an increase in Bolsa Família benefits. The 15% increase in Bolsa Família benefits decreed by the government on Thursday (Sep. 17) will begin to be paid starting October 19, just days before the second round of the election. Next week, President Lula will attend the United Nations General Assembly. He is expected to deliver a speech defending multilateralism, national sovereignty, and non-interference by foreign actors in Brazil’s elections.
