Lula and Bolsonaro exchange remarks on the economy, the União Brasil may leave the third-way alliance, and Central Bank employees go on strike for an indefinite period

Former President Lula criticized the government for the high rate of inflation. President Bolsonaro responded by calling Lula shameless. For Bolsonaro, the rise in prices was caused by the social isolation measures during the pandemic. There will likely be a meeting between the third way parties to further discuss the criteria for choosing the alliance’s candidate. But without an agreement on the criteria, the União Brasil will likely leave the bloc. Today, Central Bank employees will go on strike for an indefinite period for a salary raise. With the deadline for the approval of a salary raise approaching — July 2 — the pressure from public servants is increasing.
