President Lula announced yesterday the appointment of Congressman Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP) as the new head of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, replacing Márcio Macêdo. Yesterday, in another move that could boost his popularity and strengthen his path toward another presidential term, Lula launched Reforma Casa Brasil, a new housing credit program for middle-class families aimed at home renovations and expansions. Today, the Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee will hold a public hearing to discuss the income tax reform bill. The rapporteur, Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL), has promised to make changes to the text.
