The Genial/Quaest poll released yesterday showed that President Lula (PT) has expanded his lead over Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) to ten percentage points in the first-round simulation (39% to 29%). In May, the gap stood at six points (39% to 33%). One issue that advanced in the Senate despite resistance from the Planalto Palace was the financial autonomy of the Central Bank. The Senate’s Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) approved Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) 65/23 yesterday. The proposal defines the Central Bank as a "public entity of a special nature", granting it technical, operational, administrative, budgetary, and financial autonomy. The Lower House’s Urban Development Committee (CDU) approved a bill on Wednesday (June 10) that would use revenues from oil and natural gas production to fund fare-free urban public transportation (PL 3932/25).
