President Lula met yesterday with Finance Minister Fernando Haddad and the Presidents of the Lower House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), and the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), to discuss alternative measures to the IOF tax increase. PoderData released a new poll yesterday on the public’s evaluation of the government. According to the findings, disapproval of the administration has reached its highest level since the president took office. 56% said they disapprove of the current administration. Yesterday, Lula held a press conference highlighting several government initiatives, such as the “Gas for All” program, a provisional measure for the electric sector, the “Pé de Meia” savings program, and a new line of credit for home renovations. The effort was clearly aimed at spreading positive news to help recover popularity.
