The administration has announced the dismissal of political appointees tied to members of the centrist bloc (“Centrão”). Yesterday, during events in Bahia, Lula said Congress had never reached such a low level of quality. Yesterday, former President Jair Bolsonaro suffered another setback. Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet called for the reopening of an investigation into whether Bolsonaro interfered in the Federal Police (PF) during his administration. Finally, representatives from the Brazilian and U.S. governments will meet today, October 16, to discuss the tariff hikes—effective since August 6—and the sanctions against Brazilian officials.
