The Paraná Institute released a new poll yesterday, November 11, assessing President Lula’s (PT) administration. After six months, approval ratings fell by two percentage points, reaching 45.9%. The Lower House may vote today on a public security bill. Rapporteur Congressman Guilherme Derrite presented a new draft after rounds of negotiations, criticism, and pressure. The updated version keeps the Federal Police’s current powers intact and does not classify criminal organizations as terrorist groups. Paulo Gonet, appointed by President Lula for another two-year term as Prosecutor General of the Republic, will face his confirmation hearing today before the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ).
