More problems for Bolsonaro

The arrest of Fabrício Queiroz, a former aide to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ) during the time he served as state deputy in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), does not involve President Jair Bolsonaro. However, it does bring constraints to the Planalto Palace for the alleged involvement of the president´s son.

In a post made on Twitter, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro commented on the arrest of Fabrício Queiroz stating that he is facing the events “...with tranquility. The truth will prevail. Another piece was moved on the board to attack Bolsonaro. In my 16 years as a deputy in Rio there was never a thing against me. Once President Bolsonaro was elected, everything changed. The game is rough!”

Flávio´s statement is part of the anti-establishment narrative that Bolsonarismo usually uses when it is on the defensive. The goal is to position itself as a “victim of the system”. However, although this narrative may help to mobilize the president´s supporters to defend him, in mentioning Jair Bolsonaro, the senator also ends up sharing this political wear with the Planalto Palace.
