New Ukrainian cabinet appointed

On August 29 President Zelensky appointed a new prime minister named Oleksiy Honcharuk. At 35 Honcharuk is the youngest person to hold the office. Zelensky has persuaded the Rada (Parliament) to approve his cabinet. Honcharuk is a lawyer who has headed various governmental agencies. He is a technocrat and perceived to be no threat to Zelensky since he was not well known until now.Finance Minister Oksana Markarova retains her post. Only one other person remains in position from the previous cabinet. Most of the ministers are fairly young. The Rada has abolished the law that gives members of the Rada immunity from prosecution. Rich embezzlers used to get elected to the Rada to stay out of prison. The abolition of the law could be overturned by the Constitutional Court.
