Pakistan and Russia agree a pipeline

On May 28 the Ministry of Energy announced that a deal on a natural gas pipeline to be called Flagmanaskim has been signed. It will be a 1 100 km long and will carry 12.3 billion cubic meters per year. The pipeline will pass through Karachi to the port of Gwadar. Some gas will be used by Pakistan. The rest will be shipped overseas. The companies involved will be RT Globalny Resoursi, ETK, EMK and Rostech from the Russian side and Inter State Gas Systems on the Pakistani side. Russia is keen to export more gas. There is still some doubt that Nord Stream 2 will be completed. Gas prices have been low for the past 12 months. Pakistan has a growing population and economy. It is therefore an excellent customer.
