President Bolsonaro conflicts with the TSE and with Petrobras, the new Minister of Mines and Energy submitted a request for studies on the privatization of Petrobras, and the third-way alliance may select its presidential candidate next week

After the president of the TSE, Minister Edson Fachin, stated that “...nothing and no one will interfere in the Electoral Court," President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) declared, “The Armed Forces are not meddling in the elections.” Bolsonaro also said he will go to court to try to force Petrobras to reduce fuel prices but he admitted that obtaining a favorable decision is unlikely. Regarding the privatization of Petrobras, Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) believes that it is not a short-term solution to the problem of rising fuel prices and it is not currently on the negotiating table. The parties that make up the third-way alliance – the PSDB, MDB and Cidadania – will meet on Wednesday, May 18. On that same day, quantitative and qualitative polls will be published that will guide the choice of the bloc's candidate for the presidential election.
