President Zuma and His 12th Nuclear Cabinet Reshuffle

Yesterday, in a fairly uncermonious manner, and uncharacteristically during day time, President Zuma introduced his 12th Cabinet reshuffle in 8 years. Mostly, he re-arranged his ministers' portfolios, even some who were appointed a mere 6 months back were moved around. He brought an staunch and young MP supporter to be the Minister of State Security. More explosively, he fired his long time supporter, Dr Blade Nzimande, who is also Secretary General of the SA Communist Party. This has caused massive new ruptures within an already tormented and segmented ANC Alliance . For the past few months, both COSATU and the SA Communist Party have consistently called President Zuma to step down. President Zuma has now retaliated their hostile act by sacking the Communist Party's Secretary General. This has practically placed a nuclear bomb under whatever was left of the ANC Alliance. For the Alliance partners this is a literal declaration of war- that is politically speaking!As explosively, President Zuma enstrusted X-Minister of State Security, Mr David Mahlobo, to the Ministry of Energy. This has renewed speculations that President Zuma's Nuclear ambitions are back. For long, there has been a growing speculations that President Zuma has struck a deal with President Putin, and come what may, he will go ahead with his "pet project". For years the National Treasury was a real obstacle against getting the nuclear project through. But now that President has installed his own Minister Gigaba at the National Treassury, he is sure to receive no resistence from that quarter.
