Prime minister Groysman resigns

UKRAINE - In Brief 20 May 2019 by Dmytro Boyarchuk

Volodymyr Zelenskiy during his inauguration speech was very harsh and critical on the work of the Cabinet of Volodymyr Groysman. It did not take long for Groysman to make a decision. He has just announced his intention to resign. He will be acting Prime minister till new Cabinet is appointed. But he shifted all responsibilities for potential problems for newly elected President.A big game of blaming each other has started. Zelenskiy announced early parliament elections without any reliable team in the field. Early elections, in fact, are beneficial for well-established political forces like Batkivshchyna of Yulia Tymoshenko and Bloc of Petro Poroshenko Solidarity. But what's next?Very likely he expects some forces to block early elections. In this case he will look like a good guy whose efforts face severe resistance from corrupt establishment (as it was in his series). But as we see such players as Groysman started to play their own game. Zelenskiy asked the Cabinet to resign and Groysman resigned. They give Zelenskiy green light for his moves. And it's not a very good layout for newly elected president. None resists. Please, deliver is you can. And here Zelenskiy might face a real challenge.
