Executive Summary Recent economic news has pointed toward the possibility that the Mexican economy enjoyed a slight recovery during the second and third months of 2014, especially the monthly GDP proxy (IGAE) for February, which appeared to herald stronger economic conditions going forward. Manufacturing output showed signs of recovery during February, led by a record level of automotive production during the first quarter, as 775,000 cars and light trucks rolled off assembly lines in Mexico, with 645,000 of those vehicles produced for the export market.
