Putin says that the West is causing tension as he tests missiles

On November 18 Putin said that the West is aggravating the Ukrainian conflict. The US and its allies have held military exercises in the Black Sea and flown warplanes over Ukraine. Ukraine has used Turkish-made drones to destroy rebel artillery.Ukraine and Western countries have said that Russia has massed over 100,000 troops on Ukraine's order. Russian has 280,000 full time ground troops, while Ukraine has an army of 169,000. However, it is thought unlikely that Russia will try an all-out invasion. Russia cannot commit its whole army to Ukraine because Russia has other frontiers to guard.The West is clearly not abandoning Ukraine. Russian-backed rebels could not take Ukraine in 2014, and since then the Ukrainian Army had expanded and had a huge weapons upgrade.The United States has told Russia that a troop build up on the Ukrainian border is unwise and risks a ''serious mistake''. France said that it stands by Ukraine.Putin complained that Western nations have armed Ukraine. The USA, UK and other Western countries freely acknowledge that they supply weapons to Ukraine. Putin reminded the West that Russia has red lines. The Belarus situation appears to be calming. A camp for illegal immigrants on the Polish border has been cleared. The people have been flown back to the Middle East. But Russia has sent more troops to Belarus to signal its unstinting support for President Lukashenka. The UK criticized the move.On November 18 Russia tested a Tsirkon hypersonic missile from a ship in the White Sea. It has been tested several times over the last few years. Such a weapon is very hard to shoot down.
