Right-wing governors announced yesterday, October 30, during a press conference, the creation of the “Peace Consortium”, which will involve the exchange of experiences, actions, and equipment to combat organized crime. The major police operation in Rio de Janeiro against organized crime will continue to resonate next week. Next Friday, the First Panel of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) will begin, via virtual session, the trial of appeals filed by former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants accused of attempting a coup d’état. In the economy, attention turns to the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) meeting to decide the benchmark interest (Selic) rate, currently at 15% per year. The expectation is that the committee will maintain the Selic rate at its current level.
