Ruling party in Ukraine does poorly in local elections

On October 25 Servant of the People lost the local elections. Servant of the People is a party only founded in 2018. It is the party of President Zelensky. His and the party's ratings have tumbled since he took office in May 2019.A party called European Solidarity has made a small comeback. This is the party of former President Poroshenko.Opposition Platform For Life is a pro-Russian party. It exceeded expectations and scored respectably even in Central Ukraine. Traditionally it is only strong in the east. The Holos Party has performed decently. That is partly owing to its new leader.Turnout was only 37% at the local elections. That is the lowest ever and much lower than in presidential elections. Be cautious about reading too much into these elections. This could be midterm blues. Zelensky still stands a good chance of being re-elected.
