Russia and Myanmar agree more cooperation

On June 21 according to the Russian Security Council, the head of Myanmar's military government said that he wanted to strengthen links with Russia. Junta supremo Min Aung Hlaing is in Moscow for a 3 day conference. This is his second trip abroad since he took power.The Russian Security Council Chief discussed counter-terrorism and regional security with Min Aung Hlaing. In February 2021 a coup d'etat in Myanmar (Burma) ousted the elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The military regime is a pariah in the West.On June 18 the UN called on countries to prevent the flow of arms to Myanmar. This is not an actual embargo. 119 countries voted for the resolution. Russia was one of the few that abstained. Myanmar buys Russian helicopters, jets and tanks.
