Russia attacks Ukrainian ports with missiles

On July 12 Odesa was hit for the fifth consecutive day. It is the biggest port in Ukrainian hands. Russia ended the Black Grain Initiative on July 19. It seems that Russia is trying to make it impossible for Ukraine to export grain even without the BSGI. There has been talk of the ships of neutral navies escorting convoys of grain ships. Russia announced naval live fire exercises in the Black Sea. It really wants to discourage anyone from exporting Ukrainian grain. It would be impossible to insure ships sailing in the war zone. The July 23 attack wounded 23 people, Ukrainian authorities said. Ukraine said Kalibr missiles were among those used, and Ukraine shot down several missiles. Ukraine asked for more air defense from Western donors. They particularly want ATACMS. Odesa is a world heritage center designated by the UN. UNESCO is worried that the cathedral has been damaged. Russia insists it only hits military targets. Putin is due to meet his Belarusian counterpart later on July 23. On July 22 Ukraine destroyed an ammunition depot in Crimea. That day a Russian journalist was killed by Ukrainian forces. Russia blamed the US for supplying cluster munitions that allegedly killed him. Russia claims to have repelled Ukrainian attacks in Zaporizhzhia Region.
