Russia bans flights from UK for a week

On December 21 Russia took a snap decision to ban all flights to and from the United Kingdom. The ban takes effect at midnight on December 22 and will last until December 29.Many countries have prohibited flights from the United Kingdom owing to the new and more virulent strain of coronavirus that has been detected there. The new strain is no more dangerous than the main strain of the virus.Only earlier on December 21 Russian officials said they were not overly concerned about the coronavirus situation in the UK. Under normal circumstances there are at least 12 flights a day from London to Moscow direct.
