Russia brings forward delivery of air defense system to India

On June 26 Kommersant reported that Russia is going to deliver S-400 air defense systems to India this year. They were supposed to be delivered in 2021. An S-400 system protects airspace. Border clashes between India and China led to Delhi requesting the S-400 system be delivered ahead of schedule. Five batteries are due to be delivered. India's chief of defense staff visited Moscow for the Victory Day Parade in which Indian troops participated.India is also rowing with Pakistan which is a Chinese ally. Russia providing S-400s to India risks incurring China's wrath. The S-400 deal is thought to be worth USD 5 billion. The US has said any country buying Russian military technology will face sanctions.
