Russia has 3 million COVID cases

On December 26 it was announced that a new milestone has been passed in the pandemic. Russia has the 4th highest number of cases on Earth. The government is still determined not to reintroduce nationwide lockdown. There are some regional lockdowns. 54,000 Russians have died of the virus. This is a relatively low death rate. The government attributes that to its management of the disease and to the BCG which most Russian have somehow reducing morbidity from the disease. It is speculated that the true death toll is up to fourfold the official figure. Russia only records a death as being due to coronavirus if an autopsy confirms that to be the principal cause.On December 25 there were 29,000 new cases. The rate of spread is speeding up. Sputnik V is supposed to solve this. It has now been authorized for the over 60s.
